We haven’t heard much about Taylor Swift yet in 2016 – mostly because her tour finished in 2015 and she’s now taking a well earned break, both from touring and the limelight. It seems, however, that she isn’t taking a break from her string of good deeds.
In 2015, she donated $15,000 for the medical bills of a firefighter who was unlucky enough to respond to the call about a car crash only realise it was his wife and son who had been injured. This was enough to kickstart the campaign, and it has now raised $123,456.
She decided to do ‘Swiftmas’, and sent thoughtful presents to some of her fans across the world. She also reached out to the family of a fallen soldier who was a big fan of hers.
This time, T Swizzle got wind of a campaign raising money for a service dog for a little boy with autism. Jacob Hill is an adorable five year old, with some very dedicated cousins.

Jacob struggles with communication, understanding commands and has a tendency to wander off. There have been several instances in which Jacob has bolted from his caregivers and immediately run toward the street. As his grandmother explains on the page:
“As with many children with autism, Jacob is innately drawn to water and moving cars. Despite his challenges, Jacob is a problem-solver, making him an excellent escape artist! As a result, someone must be assigned to holding on to Jacob to ensure his safety. Consequently, his mom and dad never rest physically or emotionally. And, Jacob doesn’t get to have the independence that every little boy deserves.”
A service dog would allow Jacob his independence but also be able to ensure his safety.
So the cousins took to YouTube with a remake of Taylor Swift’s song ‘Blank Space’ in order to try and drum up some donations.
Well, their plan was even more successful than anticipated after Taylor and her mum heard about the cause. They swiftly (sorry) donated the $10,000 dollars needed to take Jacob to his goal of $12,500 – and give him the gift of a specially trained service dog.

One of the girls told KPRC 2 News about the moment Jacob’s mum told them the news: “She was like, ‘Taylor Swift just donated $10,000,’ Makaylee said. “And we were all like, ‘Oh my gosh!’
KRPC 2 were also able to confirm with the folks at GoFundMe that Swift was indeed the person who made the donation.
Fans and non-fans alike have thanked and admired Taylor (and her mum) for their generosity. She hasn’t gone without criticism, however, with many pointing out how little $10,000 is in relation to her fortune – and that she only did it for attention.
Though, in all honesty, whether her intentions are pure or not – Jacob has his service dog. Or he will do, in two and a half years after it has finished its training!
